NECA Conservancies

Overview

Under the Kenya wildlife Management and Conservation Act 2013, Local communities are permitted to conserve wildlife on their land as an income generating activities. For a long time, this practice has been undertaken in most parts of the country save for northeastern Kenya. Under our umbrella border we aim at leading the communities towards establishment of at least 18 new conservation areas.

The conservation areas will be distributed across wildlife concentration areas with 8 in Wajir County, 4 in Mandera County, and 6 in Garissa County, covering an approximate area of 5,000,000+ acres (20234 square kilometers).
